Sustainability

There is no music without sustainability

At Tecate Comuna, we believe sustainability is essential to ensuring we can always enjoy one of humanity’s greatest treasures: music. That is why we embrace social and environmental initiatives that promote sustainability at the festival.

Sustainable initiatives in our community

Mobility

We aim to offer a sustainable and safe way to travel through our shuttle program, which consists of five routes attendees can use to get home.

Composting

Together with Hagamos Composta, we will collect organic and compostable materials from food areas for composting.

Recycling

We collect aluminum cans to ensure they are recycled.

Reducing single-use plastics

In collaboration with the food trucks, we will prioritize sustainable alternatives, such as compostable materials and/or paper or cardboard, to minimize single-use plastics.

Water and hydration

We offer free drinking water to all attendees at our hydration stations, helping reduce the use of PET bottles.

We also promote efficient water use by ensuring that water used in festival production is reused for gardening and cleaning within Foro Cholula.

Accessible platforms and restrooms

We provide accessible platforms and restrooms so people with disabilities can enjoy the festival experience.

Mexican Sign Language interpreters

For the first time, we will have shows interpreted in Mexican Sign Language (LSM).

Bring sustainability to your community

We need your support to help our community embrace sustainability and ensure a future where we can enjoy music. We invite you to take part in our initiatives by using the shuttle program and returning your organic waste after eating.

We invite you to keep spreading sustainability in your daily life. Here are some actions we suggest:

  • Unplug any electronic devices you are not using.
  • Get involved in volunteer activities in your community.
  • Keep your refrigerator clean.
  • Use LED lighting or energy-saving light bulbs.
  • Ride your bike, use public transportation or carpool.
  • Learn Mexican Sign Language.
  • Keep your car’s engine in good condition.
  • Reduce your meat consumption and prioritize local products made without animal cruelty.
  • Choose plants endemic to the region; they absorb CO2 from the surrounding air.
  • Plant a tree: let’s all work toward a greener city.
  • Remember the three Rs: reduce your consumption, reuse everything you can and recycle the rest.
  • Take short showers of no more than 5 minutes.
